US Army LC-1 History

The design is reminiscent of the load-bearing pistol belts used with US military equipment, particularly the ALICE era. The US Army's LC-1 individual equipment belt formed part of the ALICE fighting load and was made from olive drab nylon rather than cotton. ALICE was introduced in 1974 as a general-purpose load-carrying system, replacing earlier Army equipment systems. The COMMANDO belt is a modern commercial product, not an original US Army LC-1 issue belt, but its eyelet-and-hook arrangement reflects the practical design language of that period.
