This Tam O' Shanter or 'Tammie' is a traditional Scottish bonnet ideal for costumes or a striking fashion statement.
The name derives from Tam O' Shanter, the hero of the 1790 Robert Burns poem. The earliest forms of these caps were made by bonnet-makers in sixteenth century Scotland. By the end of the sixteenth century, the Tam O' Shanter were a staple in mens fashion and remained so throughout the seventeeth century.
